Galiyat Mountain Trail: Recce I (Khaira Gali to Miranjani)

Get a head start on Pakistan’s most scenic race! Margalla Trail Runners (MTR) is hosting the first of three official recce runs to familiarize participants with the Galiyat Mountain Trail (GMT) 100k, 60k, 40k, and 20k routes.

Whether you are preparing for the iTRA (International Trail Running Association) and UTMB Index races on 18th-19th July 2026 or want a high-altitude challenge, this session is the perfect endurance test. This route covers the full 20k course, some portion of the 40k race route, 60k and the 100k race routes.

Choose the challenge that fits your training:

1. Full Recce: Khaira Gali to Miranjani Top (32km | 1200m Ascent)

2. The Pipeline Run: Khaira Gali to Nathia Gali (20km | 500m Ascent)

3. Twin Peaks: Mushkpuri & Miranjani Peaks (20km | 1100m Ascent)

4. Single Peak: Miranjani Top (10km | 600m Ascent)

Route Highlights

Khaira Gali → Changla & Kuza Gali Pipeline → Ayubia Pipeline → Dunga Gali → Mushkpuri Top → Lalazar Park → Nathia Gali → Miranjani Top.

Gear & Nutrition

• Shoes: Trail or multi-terrain shoes are mandatory.

• Gear: 5–10L running vest/bag, rain jacket, sunglasses, and cap.

• Fuel: 1–2L water, ORS, dates, chocolates, and bananas.

• Note: Participants are responsible for their own Ayubia National Park entry tickets.
