Event Description
The backyard is the brainchild of Lazarus Lake. Backyard Ultra is a form of ultra-marathon race where competitors must consecutively run laps with a distance of 6.706km or exactly 6706 meters (4.167 miles) in less than one hour. When each lap is completed, the remaining time within the hour is typically used to recover for the next hour’s lap, which starts at the top of the hour. Runners continue to run laps till there is only one runner left. S/he is declared the finisher/winner once s/he runs the last lap, within the hour.

About Margalla Backyard Ultra
Margalla Backyard Ultra (MBU) is the first-ever Backyard Ultra race in the history of Pakistan. It is officially associated with the Backyard Ultra international organization, the pioneer and global governing body of the Backyard Ultra race format.
Organized annually by Margalla Trail Runners (MTR), the event is held on the first Saturday of December at Fatima Jinnah Park (F-9 Park), Islamabad, Pakistan. MBU brings together endurance runners from across the country and beyond to compete in the unique “Last One Standing” format, testing their physical endurance, mental resilience, and determination.
As Pakistan’s pioneering Backyard Ultra, MBU has become a landmark event in the country’s trail and ultra-running community, promoting endurance sports while fostering camaraderie, perseverance, and the spirit of adventure.
