Backyard Ultra Rules https://backyardultra.com/rules/“Margalla Backyard Ultra” follows the exact same format as the famous “Big Dog's Backyard Ultra”.Runners must complete 4.1-mile (6.706km or exactly 6706 meters) loop in an hour until only 1 runner remains.The bell will be sounded exactly on the hour and if you have failed to make the starting area before the bell rings, then you will be disqualified from the event and will become one of the many DNF’s! There will be only 1 athlete who does not receive a DNF (Did Not Finish) and he/she will be the champion.You will need to get your pacing right, as going too fast and you are going to be hanging around at the start waiting to go again, but take it too easy and you may find yourself working harder than you need to, to make the time limit.
MARGALLA BACKYARD ULTRA GUIDELINES Margalla Backyard Ultra (MBU) follows the exact same format and rules as the famous “Big Dog's Backyard Ultra”. Kindly go through the rules properly. MBU will be held in F-9 Park. The Park has its own regulations. Participants or crew members must not damage any property of the Park. Runners have to follow the Backyard Ultra Rules. If anyone is found to breach or NOT follow the rules, he/she will be DISQUALIFIED. Margalla Backyard Ultra Course/Route has already been shared. GPX file will also be shared. In the first loop, volunteers will guide the route to all runners, especially those running for the first time in the Park, or they can follow or run along those who know the route. Runners must run on the defined Margalla Backyard Ultra course/route. Course Marshals/Monitors will be on the route and will monitor randomly. If anyone is found taking a shortcut or running off the route, he/she will be DISQUALIFIED. If any of the participants are found guilty of misbehaving with organizers/volunteers or disagreeing with Backyard Ultra Rules, Park Rules, or MBU 24 Guidelines. He/She will be DISQUALIFIED. If any of the participants are found guilty of misbehaving/ harassing fellow runners or visitors of the Park, he/she will be DISQUALIFIED. Course/Route The course is in F-9 Park and almost flat with approximately 36m (118ft) of elevation gain on each loop. It can easily be completed within the 1-hour time limit. The course is a mixture of gravel and dirt tracks. MBU Route Links Race Route Garmin Route
Logistics and Running Gear Runners are responsible for their own hydration/water, food, snacks, energy drinks, etc. (Water will be provided by Organizers) Runners can bring a camp/tent, chair, cup/glass, power bank, blanket, etc. (Especially those planning to run long). Runners have to arrange their running gear, head/hand torch, rain Jacket & Trouser, windbreakers, etc., (Especially those who are planning to run more than 8 loops or during the night). Runners must plan and bring running gear day and nighttime and winter weather accordingly. (Especially those who are planning to run more than 8 loops). Runners can pitch a SMALL CMAP inside the Marquee or Large Tent area on a first come first serve basis. They can pitch their camps outside the Shamiyana or Large Tent area if space is unavailable. Runner/Participant can be accompanied by a team maximum 2 support/crew members). If any runner has more than 2 crew/supporting members he/she can pitch his/her camp outside the Shamiyana. At night time, he/she can move his/her camp into the Shamiyana. (We have to give space to all participants/runners inside the Large Tent area). Toilets are available inside the Park.
DOS AND DONTS MBU will be held in F-9 Park. The Park has its own regulations. Participants or crew members must not damage any property of the Park. You cannot throw litter on the track. It would be best if you put litter in the BINS while running on the track. At the Race venue, Start/Finish area, Garbage Bags will be available. You have to put your litter in the garbage bags. Volunteers/Organizers are only for RACE ARRANGEMENTS and management. They are NOT responsible for your or your crew members’ personal support.
